Kerry, I wanted to help you get a little picture of how the different applications of a trademark might work...

Now see if this makes sense...I will use Lysol brand disinfectant as the example:

I drink Lysol for Breakfast.
I use Lysol for my bubblebath.
I fertilize my flowers with Lysol.
I wash the car with Lysol.
I use Lysol for a cooking oil.
I use Lysol as a perfume. (Much sexier than White Shoulders.)
I use Lysol for a pet beverage.
I toast all my special occasions in life with Lysol
ect. ect. ect.

All different applications so it doesn't matter that it's named Lysol right? Please help me understand this because I am not following your logic. My understanding is that Lysol is Lysol and Coke is Coke and Microsafe is Microsafe(tm).

Cindy

P.S. My previous post was supposed to read James Berry instead of Barry. (James Berry seems to be on the right path and seems to be looking in the right direction for answers.)
