Eric, Macrium did not install a toolbar or other extraneous software. I forget if it tried, since I installed several programs in the last few days. [ imgburn tried and kept trying, though. ]

My comment about Macrium robustness pertains only to the making of a WinPE recovery CD. EaseUS failed - for me - to do that or the CD failed to run. [made a Linux CD from EaseUS though]

When it comes to a feature comparison you may be right. The only one of the four items you list that matters to me is

• The capability to access the recovery software and images from the Windows boot menu prior to OS install.

Free Macrium does that. When I boot with the Macrium-made WinPE CD I get a Macrium screen showing choices [recovery, verification etc] and I have used the verification choice on the Macrium system image on my external HD. Took about 20 minutes and checked ok.

I would show you a screen shot, but I don't think that is possible outside of Windows [?].
If a screen shot is of interest to anyone, I can take a photograph - let me know.
