The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with military assault weapons or arming extremist rightwing militias. Just the opposite in fact. The founding fathers wanted us to be armed to defend ourselves AGAINST imperialists and extremists like the rightwing NRA militias and the religious right. For instance, do you think the founding fathers would want NRA member Timothy McVeigh to have machine-guns? We already have militias called the National Guard, so gun nuts can join the Guard if they want to fire assault rifles for fun. Then they can get sent to Iraq to see if they're real men, or just talk tough.
