btw...When I was at the U, one of my roles was to work with students who were on academic probation. During this time, I found that the most successful strategy for students who are at risk or who have admissions "issues" is to go to a Junior college for at least 6 months and transfer in with a strong initial College transcript.

Whether or not my kids qualify initially for a University program, I want them to stay at home for the first year or two, while attending a local Community College. There are too many disincentives to success at the typical University. The Freshmen dorms are not much more than resident brothels, for example.
