SEVEN SEAS ANNOUNCES ADDITIONS TO ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

HOUSTON, Tex., Nov. 8 /CNW/ - Seven Seas announces that Robert A. Hefner
III and Brian F. Egolf have joined the Board of Directors at the Board's
quarterly meeting held today in Houston. Mr. Hefner is a geologist and
geophysicist and the originator of the Company's Emerald Mountain Project in
Colombia on which a significant discovery has been made. He is also credited
with initiating exploration for deep gas in the Anadarko Basin of Western
Oklahoma. Mr. Egolf has been associated with the oil industry all of his
working career and has extensive experience in finance. Both Mr. Hefner and
Mr. Egolf are significant shareholders as a result of Seven Seas' July 29,
1996 acquisition of an additional 36.7% interest in the Emerald Mountain
Project.
The Company also announced today that based on further evaluation of
various logs run in the El Segundo No. 2, a series of tests will be conducted
on approximately 550 feet of the Cimarrona Formation to fully evaluate its
production potential. Oil saturation and fracturing is evident throughout the
Cimarrona section. Testing is expected to get underway in about three weeks.
GHK Company Colombia, a wholly owned subsidiary of Seven Seas, is the
operator of the Emerald Mountain Project. Seven Seas holds a 51.7% interest in
the Emerald Mountain contract areas.
Seven Seas Petroleum Inc. is engaged in international oil and gas
exploration activities.
