Terry,

Regarding INTC bad news:
1)I expect 3Q report will be very rosy both for 3Q earnings and the outlook for 4Q.

2)However,an article in,I believe, the eetimes sees wintel losing business to Thin Client in '97.But as Intel is getting more deeply involved with servers in alliance with HWP the money may just end up going in a different pocket.

3)More seriously,if true is a rumor that Dvorak presented in Oct.8,PC Magazine (pg.87) that "the MMX chip, while a 2.9-volt part will require a full 9 watts to power it.9 watts means heat, and heat means you can probably forget about seeing an MMX lightweight notebook in '97...This heat problem may in part be the real reason that Intel has decided to push bsck the ship date for the MMX chip to early '97".As I consider MMX to be the centerpiece of the qualitative leap multimedia is about to take, anything that delays MMX from becoming the standard will hurt not only Intel but software makers(software must be written specifcally for MMX which means we'll eventually have to buy it),as well as the introduction of DVD(MMX could utiliize it best) and the developmentof the internet hybrid applications Intel's been pushing to enrich and speedup the net in lieu of greater bandwidth(again MMX and DVD would be maximize those apps.)

4)Long,long term Intel remains the best tech stock to combine growth and stability.Of course no tech stock is truly secure.

Regards,
Dennis
