FINANCING / Renaissance Energy Ltd. Announces Issuance of
Medium Term Notes

JANUARY 30, 1998



CALGARY, ALBERTA--Renaissance Energy Ltd. announces that it has

agreed to issue $100 million of Medium Term Notes, Series C,
maturing February 3, 2003, bearing interest at 5.75 percent, for
settlement on February 3, 1998. Renaissance intends to use the
net proceeds of $99.5 million to repay short-term indebtedness of
the company.

All these securities have been sold. This announcement appears as
a matter of public record.
