OT: Iceland actually has some pretty tough telecom guys, I'm just waiting for them to set up some local R&D based on really remote working. (if they already have, please comment)
One particular saved the (frmr) butt of one (frmr) major american company.
Hmm.. need to check the map if they would beat Oulu as the northernmost telecom center if that would happen??
Ilmarinen.
P.S. Oulu, just south of the polar circle, additionally has a history of providing tar for the frmrly imperial english fleet, until tar started to be produced in USA and then wooden tarred ships were replace by copper.
P.P.S Additionally that north part of Finland was where the real Adam Smith, Anders Chydenius, wrote his "Wealth of Nations" 10 years before Adam Smith (of Scotland with similar problems of London-based licensing)
P.P.P.S. Ollila comes from pretty much the same region
P.P.P.P.S Chydenius recommended using native american canoes to increase local trade, was never used, but his original drawings was used to build a replica some years ago. (Chydenius also actually got into the congress of Stockholm, A. Smith did not make it into London to implement the ideas) |
