Hi Yukon,

Political rhetoric. 6 months ago, Europe realized how far they were behind QCOM and decided to change termonology.
That's right, when you can't finish technology on time, just change the termonology. QCOM was demoing HDR last fall and
Europe had a cow.

A 3G technology with a cost effective migration path? And it works, not just on paper, but physically works? Yes, so Europe
started to change standards and termonology, coming up with 2.5G and spending months and millions trying to develop and
certify illogical migration paths for GSM. Change and confuse. If they had spent as much time focusing on technology as
they did focusing on spin, they would be much closer to a solution. So the outcome:

Where Europe was the leader in digital phone technology, they will be last with HS digital technology. Asia will introduce
2.5G in early 2001 (actually already started). 2.5G me3ans data up to 384kbps - starting withh 153kbps. US will introduce
2.5 at end of next year and Asia will have 3G trials late next year, early 2002. Europe will have 3G closer to 2004 and
perhaps later, imo.

When you listen to 3G rhetoric, you have to remember the source and understand the termonology, which changes day to
day. QCOM has been right on with their predictions and deployment. The other guys have distorted and exageratted for
unnecessary political reason. If we look at the press releases over the last 18 months, it is clear who has delivered and who
has failed.

Just my opinion

And Q's patent portfolio is solid as a rock. NEC said so today. for fools to question their patent position without using
examples is ridiculous. Believe me, if there was a doubt, someone would have the patent number and expiration date in the
hands of the press. You won't see it!
