Sometimes short-term financial advantage is sacrificed for long-term financial/power advantage.

China is not even able to manufacture chips at the leading edge due to import restrictions on litho.

If they seize Taiwan, they are now able to use the most advanced process nodes for China itself, maybe cut off AMD/Nvidia etc.

We would probably boycott China altogether, which would create massive internal instability. This would be the biggest reason they do not invade.

Capturing $200 billion in bleeding edge fabs is a nice prize though, and your power goes up long-term.

Anyway, I think markets would get a 50% haircut with an invasion.

What do you think it would do to the markets if it happened?
