VideoPropulsion Delivers VDOPro DVB Solutions for Sun Platforms

Combination Provides Highly Available, Reliable, Cost Effective Video & Data
Multiplexing Solution for Broadcasting, Cable and Video Content Distribution
Markets

NEW ORLEANS, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Cable 2000 NCTA Show, May 5, 2000 -
VideoPropulsion, Inc.(VPI), a wholly owned subsidiary of GENROCO, Inc.
(OTC Bulletin Board: GRCI), today announced the availability of its VDOPro(TM)
DVB products for Sun(TM) Enterprise(TM) servers and Solaris(TM) Operating
Environment platform. The combination of Sun Microsystems and VideoPropulsion
solutions allows broadcasting, cable, video production and video distribution
companies to deliver highly available and reliable multiplexing solution to
their target audiences. In essence, it enables these companies to broadcast
multiple video streams through a single stream, modify data for a video
stream, and insert additional data or video into a real-time broadcast video
stream.
"Sun is working with industry solutions providers such as VideoPropulsion
to deliver best-of-breed infrastructure solutions for digital television,"
said Bill Correll, group manager, Interactive Media Solutions, Sun
Microsystems, Inc. "VideoPropulsion's VDOPro solutions on the robust,
reliable Sun platform is good news for companies supplying interactive video
capabilities to their customers."
"VideoPropulsion is committed to delivering the highest performance,
lowest cost-per-stream MPEG transport products obtainable today. Making our
products and development tools available on the Sun platform is a key part of
our strategy to give end-to-end solutions providers an open systems choice,
"said Carl Pick, VPI Chairman. "Sun has a uniquely powerful set of options
for allowing their customers to combine media approaches for Web and
broadcasting in this revolutionary and rapidly changing process of digital
convergence."
VideoPropulsion enjoys a large installed base of unique and reliable
solutions in a wide range of production environments for interactive
television, video-on-demand, broadcast playout and data casting. With cross
platform support and new software layers for encapsulation and packetization,
developers can choose a variety of encoders and decoders for use with VPI
capture and transmission products.
VideoPropulsion will run a live demonstration of its PCI DVB ASI Mux
transmit card and software support layers for the Solaris Operating
Environment v2.8 on its booth #3765 at the Cable 2000 show. The DVP-5464 Dual
Channel Mux Transmit interface is the newest member of VPI's VDOPro family of
high bandwidth, low-host overhead controller products. The single, short PCI
card utilizes the latest and fastest Java(TM) technology based processor from
Patriot Scientific Corporation. VPI's proprietary design enables the DVP-5464
to merge as many as 140 three Megabit-per-second (Mbps) MPEG-2 program streams
over two DVB channels with single packet granularity in real time.
DVB, having originated in Europe and now being adopted in the United
States, is an important, worldwide standard for connection of components
making up digital video networks and studios.
