WARRENSBURG, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 13, 1999--Twistee
Treat Corp. (OTC BB:TWTE), marketers of patented "Firm-Serve" ice
cream through both the company-owned and franchised stores, has
signed a license with Twistee Treat Canada of London, Ontario under
which it will open its own Twistee Treat stores and promote franchises
all across Canada.
Stephen B. Wells, president, said the five-year agreement plans for
Twistee Treat Canada to develop and open a minimum of 50 stores over
the next 48 months. The new company's three principals combine 17
years' experience in the retail ice cream business, including franchising,
plus years of professional financial management.
Along with its proprietary ice cream product, Twistee Treat sells
non-fat yogurt and other frozen desserts, usually from its distinctive
cone-shaped building, also patented. The company also operates and
franchises a kiosk model for use in shopping malls, airports, colleges,
and similar gathering places. A mobile unit, also available, visits fairs,
outdoor shows and sporting events.
Under the Canadian license, all these versions will be available to the
licensee, Wells said, including the new Twistee Treat Express Grille,
which is a sit-down restaurant with a full fast-food-type menu.
"We view Canada as a real marketing opportunity for us," Wells said,
"and we believe it will prove to be a profitable venture for both parties."
