Rajiv,

I honestly don't know enough to speculate on the implications for hubs/routers. There is a good thread on "Switch Side Support" in the Amati forum (under Communications), and Hank Zannini, the father of the Token Ring, posts frequently in various AMTX threads.

All xDSL systems have a modem at each end. WSTL has recently announced a multiplexor (Supervision) for the CO end that can handle data from several user-end xDSL modems. More than that--how this connects with ATM etc.--is really beyond my meager knowledge.
