Deep- Reloading ENE - I blew out of my ENE that I bought at 11.50 at 13.00. I reloaded today at 7.50 and I think it has now bottomed. It is high risk play but I think it could double...form7.50 ... It had climactic blowoff volume today. JMHO - by: deep_in_the_money

ENE thrift sale - > In a conference call with investors Wednesday, El Paso Energy Chairman and Chief Executive William Wise said his company would consider buying some of Enron's assets, though he declined to specify which ones. Looks like EPG may be adding to its pipeline portfolio - and hopefully on the cheap. - by: inequity30

Captain - ENE - Yahoo properly ignores the pro-forma sophistry and calculates the E in P/E on net earnings. So the $1.0 billion charge taken last quarter pretty much wiped off the operating profit mostly generated by its core merchant power and gas trading: "For the nine months ended 9/30/01, revenues rose from $60.04 billion to $139.69 billion. Net income applicable to Common before accnt. changes fell 85% to $131 million. Revenues reflect growth in the wholesale and retail energy businesses and the natural gas pipelines. Net income was offset by $1.01 billion in non-recurring charges." I'm looking for a couple more dollars here, then I'll be out. It was fun watching the shocking wealth destruction and then the turn up when credible reports of a buy-out od some kind emerged. Faber of CNBC acted like he had caused the turn single handedly. reports of a Dynegy buy-out - by: philip_in_new_york

ENE deal is dun? - It's a stock swap that values ENE at approx $10 based on today's close (according to the linked article), but watch for DYN to drop big time tomorow morning, it dropped 10% on the rumor today, and it could fall fast tomorrow am, knocking the value to ENE shareholders down below $10. biz.yahoo.com - by: correctasever

Re: ENE - Now it looks like there's some credibility to the reports that Enron has been looking for a cash infusion that might have as a price a loss of control. It would have amazed me a couple years ago (to hear Ken Lay/Jeff Skilling talk) that at this time they's be in such a fix that they would consider a shotgun marriage with Dynegy. Let's see: Chevron sells Warren Petroleum, gas liquids division to NGC Corp. Enron sells gas liquids division to NGC Corp. NGC changes name to Dynegy. Enron "monetizes" Enron Oil & Gas. Enron's creative financing comes back to haunt them. Dynegy buys Enron. Looks like a full circle for the liquids business. Enron Broadband bites the dust, but the assets they sold off become the collateral that in effect is the keel owned by Dynegy that rights the ship of Enron. An interesting parable for E-Commerce and the notion that "who needs assets?" and that "the old ratios don't matter anymore!" Ha HA Ha HA HA Ha - by: RollsWrangler

Re: Puppy are you buying ENE ? - Dynegy Is Said to Be Near to Acquiring Enron for $8 Billion By RICHARD A. OPPEL Jr. and ANDREW ROSS SORKIN Dynegy Inc. (news/quote) was in the final stages of talks tonight to acquire the Enron Corporation (news/quote), the struggling energy-trading company, for about $8 billion in stock, or roughly $10 a share, according to executives close to the discussion. As part of the deal, Chevron (news/quote) Texaco (news/quote), which owns a 27 percent stake in Dynegy, will contribute $1.5 billion in cash up front and then an additional $1 billion when the deal closes. The negotiations come as Enron, the nation's biggest buyer and seller of natural gas and electricity, is under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission because of financial deals by some of its executives. As part of the acquisition, Dynegy would be taking on Enron's $12.8 billion debt load — a number that does not include billions of dollars of other debt, accumulated off the balance sheet that has played a major role in Enro - by: why_eat_puppies

ENE to be aquired - annonced today at 2:30. I was waiting to buy when it dipped at 7, but missed it. Thing flew up to 9 so fast. I think this will boost the possibility of a rumor starting that PVN will be aquired too due to the cheap price. Companies want to get in cheap and I think Capitol would be so sorry not to pick up PVN at these levels. - by: wallstreet_trader
Re: ENE to be aquired - in my opinion, pvn's value will be more appreciated in long run . it is easily up to $20-30 in next 6 months. why should it sell to its competers at $7-10 now? - by: albertye_1999

Goober845 - Warren Buffet and ENE - <<Why doesn't he use charts? Is it because long-term future success has little to do with recent stock movements? >> Correct, he does not use charts, he buys the charts. His Berkshire Hathaway company buy's "brand name" companies and "some" parts of their business that he can remove these management who run the business into the ground. In most cases the whole company that are in a nitched market, e.g., Fruit-Of-The_Loom for a recent example. I suspect that management from fruit of the loom FAILED to supply the market with enought cheap shorts (underware) for the 2000 and 2001 bag holders. So I belive Haynes supplied enought cheaper shorts to the bag-holders. He certainly would not buy Calvin Klein's upscaled design underwear. Now Enron: I just looked at BRKa and saw the news: "Representatives of Enron have approached Warren Buffett". Now that companies is spoiled meat IMO. It's not finished cooking yet, and is too raw for Buffett. Enron manangement went to him, not the other way ar - by: ironman_01701

ENE deal in works ! - Dynegy in Talks to Buy Enron With ChevronTexaco Cash (Update2) By George Stein Houston, Nov. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Dynegy Inc. is in talks to buy Enron Corp. as Enron faces a cash crunch and loss of investor confidence over its dealings with partnerships controlled by a top executive, people familiar with the situation said. ChevronTexaco Corp., which owns about 27 percent of Dynegy, is considering adding $1.5 billion to the deal to help Enron, whose stock and credit ratings declined in the wake of a Securities and Exchange Commission investigation into the partnerships, the people said. The boards of the three companies were meeting today on the proposed transaction, the people said. Dynegy and Enron, rival Houston energy trading firms, haven't agreed on a price, the people said. Dynegy is proposing a stock swap with a modest premium while Enron is holding out for more, the people said. ``If history is any guide, Dynegy is stingy when it comes to acquisitions, so I don't expect them to do anything stu - by: adesa2s
