One example. The author says: "By July of 1970, Bush had earned his wings and racked up approximately 300 hours of training flight time in the F-102....At this point in the Vietnam War, the US Air Force desperately needed additional F-102 pilots to fly the dangerous reconnaissance missions so important to the fate of American troops on the ground."

However, I found this: "By the end of 1969, with the exception of a squadron maintained in Iceland, all ADC F-102As had been transferred to the Air National Guard. The F-102As stationed in the Pacific had been withdrawn in December of 1969...The F-102A was finally withdrawn from Southeast Asia in December of 1969."
