It would appear that Alito wants to re-figure Marbury vs Madison. That is just about the Supreme Court's oldest important case where they took upon themselves the role of interpreting the Constitution. Apparently in Alito's idea of the "Unitary President" that power would be greatly diminished and the President would decide with his side-letters which parts of which laws were worth enforcing.

So much for precident. This appears to be the concept that the Federalist type people mean when they talk about going back to the founding father's original intentions. They conclude that the founding fathers never intended the Supreme Court to have this power.

It would appear that Unitary President is a code word for emperor.
