jmac. Re: Preannouncement. One reason Intel may not have preannounced even if business is ahead of plan is that the company wanted to wait to see how orders flow in for the rest of the month and early October. Order flow in 3rd and 4th quarter will vary year to year, and Y2K could effect buying short term. At this point, Intel orders may be coming in faster, but that's no guarantee that they won't then slow down in the 4th Quarter. Being conservative, Intel would be reluctant to say business was better if they had to turn around 4-5 weeks later and say, "We were overly optimistic." JMHO. HL
