From the sale of their Redwood City, California real estate, completed January 1996, Ampex will receive $8.7 million in December 1996 and $8.8 million in December 1997. I guess the extra money could help development costs this month, possibly conducting more research/testing on keepered media with MR heads. Also the Nov. 96 issue of Advanced Imaging had a little blurb about Ampex's digital cassette recoder being used to store images received from Recon/Optical Inc.'s Forward Motion Compensation 25 Mpixel focal plane array, used in military reconnaissance. Not much, but it shows there's still interest among government contractors in using Ampex products, and confidence in their reliability. Still waiting patiently...
