Bev! Glad to see you on here!

Don't worry about us, we've got rocks in our pockets and are growing fins. Between January 22 and Feb 22 we had 11.5 inches of rain at our house on soil that was already saturated. We live in a well drained neighborhood, but large areas to the north in the Suwannee/Santa Fe flood plain aren't so lucky.

Central Florida has been hit very hard by tornados and 38 were killed, 250 injured. Florida has the highest incidence of tornados in the summer, but they are usually very small ones associated with tropical thunderstorms. At most they shift a few trailers, lift a few roofs, and down a few trees. They aren't anything like the giant monsters of the midwest. The tornados of last weekend, on the other hand, were very bad, and skipped and bounced across the countryside. When they dropped to the ground they did so without warning and victims said it was like a bomb going off. The reason this group of tornados killed more people than Hurricane Andrew was that while there was a general warning as usual, many of the touchdowns were at night, even while people were sleeping, and they had no warning that one was about to hit.

Charles

P. S. Don't worry, Disney World is still there.
