Scott McNealy Takes A Dive As Politics Prevails Over Principles

techweb.cmp.com

Scott, you call yourself a "libertarian," but you sure don't act
like one when your own ego and pocketbook are involved. Do you have
any guidelines limiting what you'll do to handicap Microsoft? Do you
really believe you can instigate government activity without inviting
new legislation? Is winning the game so important that you'd
surrender any principle you might have, even if it meant delivering
the industry into the hands of slavering bureaucrats eager to help us
"solve our problems"?

Or maybe you're so consumed by the contest that you're not thinking
two moves ahead. In your newfound zeal to make Sun a "good corporate
citizen," which your PR people explicitly define as "not challenging
the government," you seem awfully willing to cast aside former
partners if they displease your new masters in Washington.

Today it's Elvis. Who will you sacrifice tomorrow?
