It took a long time for the EU to get where it is today, but it occurred slowly enough that Europeans gradually accepted it. The underlying catalyst of course was economic which led to political integration. I think it’s safe to say though that political integration will continue around the world through advancing communication and trade and I do believe the changes in the global political structure in the next few hundred years will be just as dramatic as the past few hundred years. * * *
