BEIJING — A culinary punster in a Chinese provincial capital is boasting a world premiere dish: Clinton-Lewinsky chicken stew, a Beijing newspaper reported on Saturday.
Menus in the restaurant in Nanning, capital of the southern region of Guangxi, offer "Kelindun Laiwensiji," a stew of black dates and strips of chicken, the Beijing Evening News said.
The name of the entree is a pun on the Chinese name for U.S. President Bill Clinton and White House intern Monica Lewinsky which uses the characters for "dates," "stew" and "chicken."
"The chef acknowledged, however, that the new dish was getting a lot of inquiries but very few orders," the paper said.
China's anti-pornography authorities this week seized a Chinese version of the Starr report, branding it an "illicit publication" for its graphic descriptions of sex in the White House. The report was an underground best-seller in China.
