They won't do this, because it would mean the disruption of a business model that they've settled into.

And that's really the meat of the problem, isn't it? An outmoded middleman trying to turn back the clock. Instead of trying new approaches like Apple's iTunes, RIAA resorts to lawsuits.

There's something vaguely absurd about the RIAA suing 12 year olds.....

My sentiment exactly. Certainly won't win them any hearts and minds.
