It isn't likely that third world and emerging market economies have prepared for Y2K. nando.net More financial crises such as the Mexican currency turmoil of 1995 and the current Asian problems could come in the 21st century, warns Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan. Even with reforms to the international financial system, it is unlikely that monetary officials will ever be able to totally eliminate the types of financial crises that can suddenly engulf a country, he said Friday. --- Referring to the Asian crisis in which currency and stock market values have plunged, Greenspan said these episodes of lost confidence are driven by primal forces rather than reasoned judgment. "Its root is a process that is neither measured nor rational, one based on a visceral, engulfing fear," Greenspan said. "In all aspects of life, when confronted with uncertainty, people tend to withdraw." Some people have withdrawn from GRNO. Charles
