Zawahri Fears Iraq Elections, Threatens U.S.

CAIRO, Egypt -- In a videotape aired on the Al-Jazeera network Monday, Osama bin Laden's top lieutenant vowed to continue fighting the United States until Washington changed its policies.
In the tape aired on al-Jazeera television, Ayman Al-Zawahri spoke of the Nov. 2 U.S. presidential elections: "The results of the elections do not matter for us. What matters is how the United States deals with Muslims,'' al-Zawahri said in the tape.
As usual, Zawahri threatened the U.S. with attacks bigger than 9/11 if the U.S doesn't get out of Iraq, stop being an infidel nation, etc. etc.
He warned his followers that the fall of Baghdad is just a prelude to what the world will be subjected to at the hands of the U.S.
The AP reports Zawahri "addressed the American people, urging them to deal with Muslims 'with respect:' 'Either you choose to treat us with respect and based on an exchange of interests ... or we will continue to fight you until you change your policies.'"
Translators told MSNBC that the tape was made two months before the U.S. elections, and analysts say that the tape is being released now because Zawahri is trying to get out the message to his cohorts that if elections in the Middle East - in places like Afghanistan and Iraq - are undertaken through a Democratic process, they will be in trouble.
The United States has offered a $25 million reward for the capture of bin Laden and al-Zawahri, who were believed to be hiding in the tribal areas along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
