Iran has no significant AL Qaida connections. Neither did Iraq. Remember, they are Shia and Al Qaida is Sunni. In fact probably the most important countires for Al Qaida are two Bush allies, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
Whoever told you that is giving you disinformation, probably intentionally. People like Sean Hannity who regularly lie to dupe the rightwing base. He claims the WMD were sent to Syria. He has zero evidence to back that up but says it anywhere rather that just admitting the obvious, that Bush-cheney lied. Hannity will never admit Bushies lied or failed. Never-ever.
You seem deluded about the extent of US military power. Sure we have more bombs and jets than anyone, but our army and Marines are tapped out and we are badly exposed if China wanted to start something. And Afghanistan is in real danger of disintegrating into chaos again.
Our force now cannot even secure Baghdad. Plus it's a civil war between two groups of madmen, so what are we doing in the middle of it? We have no allies left. even the Brits have left. And remember we had 550,000 troops in little ole Vietnam and still couldn't secure that country. Because that was a civil war too, we realized 15 years too late. So learn lessons from history, rightwingers, don't push us into making the same stupid self-defeating mistakes again and again.
Kerry was right, as was GHW Bush. If you really have to go to war, and i mean HAVE to, not only plan-plan-plan and exhaust all diplomacy, but bring in a real coalition including the UN and NATO and make sure it's the right thing to do and the job can get completed. Anything less and it's extremely risky, plus probably unnecessary.
That's why I say, all Americans who want to continue supporting Bush-cheney, just go enlist, and pay your own way to Iraq, put your lives and money where your mouths are. Because right now our fighting men deserve a long break. So if you're so hungry for more war, you go take their places. |
