Over time, I don't even like upgrading my linux distributions. There some newbie decides that some new universal way is better. the admin is coupled to whatever desktop environment is the current distribution fad.
All connections to the text files that control whatever is hidden anew often in layers of who knows where.

kde and unity suck. gnome is clunky. I have used and still use fvwm from 1994 maybe.

I left NT of XP after win7 was out 2 years maybe. Win 7 did not support my matrox 4 vid out card. Then as I got laptops with win 7. I decided to get a compatible video card for four displays in win7. The price also had come down to 160. win 7 configuration of many things is more obtuse than XP. It may be a little more stable. XP would hang and generally every few days I rebooted. win 7 not so much but then the updates cause a reboot requirement. I often come down in the morning and find my win 7 rebooted.

I doubt win 10 will have any more sensible configuration interfaces and add much if any new functionality or stability to borg OS environment.
