Only two other here use Linux? You guys don't know what are you missing out. Free, better, malicious free, don't slows down over time, open source, no hidden/secret code, transparent, software is keep being updated... Let me give you example.
When MS Office got new version, and you had old on your windows, you could not open/use documents created with the new one. Microsoft tried to strong arm you into buying new one. With Linux, whenever is new version of Libre Office available, you just click on update button, everything gets updated, system, programs, it all happens in the background, you dont need to stop what are you doing, you dont need to reset your computer.... Consider it done deal and your system is up to date and so is all your software that is already installed. No worries, no headache and free.
MS is collecting data about you, doing things behind the curtains, it is not transparent full of bugs, gets slower over time, infested..... and MS is charging it. And their business plan is to secure revenue by going to subscription based. Third party software has many times some shady arts of code included, especially the 'free' one.
You have two main options:
1 - free, better, safer, all installed software always up to date, open source 2 - paid, worse, less secure, third party software keep needs to be updated/reinstalled, close source
I see most here chose to go with option 2 |
