hi wildstar,

i'll take a shot (or two) at this with you. i can't go with the obvious, which is to select the 'direct connection' to the internet choice because you've said that the entire page is grayed out.

so here's a thought... Select Edit | Preferences | Offline and make sure the first option 'Online Work Mode' is selected. if you don't have that option, try 'remember previous state' or 'ask me'. perhaps your communicator is set for offline mode only.

i doubt that is it. are you sure the whole proxies page is grayed out? even manual?

i'll keep thinking on it...
