The 1980's and 1970's are ancient history. You can't use something from the 80's as a pretext for attacking today. The US also attacked Iranian oil installations during the Iran-Iraq War and armed both Iran and Iraq, under Reagan. Our hands were not clean in that mess which killed millions of people. We supplied most of the arms, maybe even the gas Saddam used.
