Paul was part of the problem for if good cheer was valued there would be less problems.

If everyone woke up Easter Monday satisfied society as we know it would pass away. No one would need a new car or any car. Women would have no need for augmentations of any sort or make-up and hair products. People would no longer turn on the news to find out what the unsettling reality was for the last few minutes as they would no longer care. Politicians that were screaming and shouting about some new problem would be laughed at. If everyone woke up Monday morning and was completely satisfied with their lot the courts, police, lawyers, prison guards and prison builders would all be out of a job.

So you can see there is nothing in satisfaction that is positive for a materialist society.

What we need is an "I don't buy into it" campaign - this is much more important than any tea party. Peace of mind, euphoria, ecstasy is exactly what society is dead against. The promise of eternal salvation however true or false is held out as bait against it. Those that don't conform or pay lip service are punished here on earth and condemned to everlasting flames by the representing clerics.
