I've really never had the time or energy to do it, but it is something I'd like to do one day.
I had to take a course on it in college and it is not an easy read, that's why I'm bemused by the claims that billions have read it..... Yes, read parts of it and pretend they know what it means.... And I'd wage the bible best "readers" are using the original King James version which is a nightmare to try read with understanding. I recognize the historical significance and have visited many of the places mentioned (the versions given there by the guides bear little resemblance to what we hear in our churches), but it is scholars that glean that info not casual readers.....

Good luck on your future endeavor, allow a lot of time to do it properly. And keep a lot of coffee handy...
