For completeness, I think it is important to note that S3 insiders still own over 1.8 million shares. Fraud seems hardly worth it on all fronts, but who ever said a criminal is smart? The convertible bond issue bothers me the most, that is major $$$.
Important conference call. If I'm not mistaken, S3 was supposed to have Faroudja available for sampling 1Q98. I for one volunteer to sample Faroudja :-). I'm sure S3 will be pressed about when their upcoming products will be available, any waffling on this topic would make me highly skepical that S3 will be ready for Windows 98/cheap Pentium II. Once again it is my belief that S3 needs to be EARLY in order to secure DESIGN WINS. Missing another cycle or even part of it would be disasterous for S3. Watching STB and seeing if they adopt the next S3 chipset may be a good barometer.
Of note, SonicVibes has proved that even if S3 delivers on the next generation graphics product doesn't mean their products will be accepted or that competitors will outdo S3. Our friends at ATI, Intel, and other companies have had ample time to come up with a digital video solution. It's like war, you need superior hardware, strategy, and strong leadership. S3 has none of these in place right now. Given the current status of the company, the conference call cannot be deficient in any of these areas. Good Luck TH, the "personable" GJ would not have had a prayer of a chance.
