My own personal opinion is that when men are young boys they often feel some sexual attraction towards other boys. I think this is totally normal--some girls are attracted to girls, as well. Most people grow up to be heterosexual, after it is all sorted out and puberty is over. There is also rampant homosexual exploration among teenaged male animals.

I think the Christian culture in this society is terrified of this ambiguity. They make rigid rules and drive normal, growing-up kind of issues underground to fester, creating homophobia as an overcompensation.

My bet is that Christian males might avoid Alexander because they are terrified that they would not actually be totally repulsed by man-on-man sex scenes.

I think this is all a shame. I went to rottentomatoes.com and read how Oliver Stone made this film, and it was very expensive and complex and there was a huge drive to make it authentic, sparing no detail. As a spectacle, and as history, I am pretty sure it is going to be fantastic. I guess we will see!
