Precisely, and everyone knows (or should know) that Congress voted itself the legal right to execute insider trades, anytime. That's right! Congress can legally engage in far more significant levels of insider trading than the activity that sent Martha Stewart to prison (and not that I give a damn about Martha Stewart). That type of "do we say, not as we do" authoritarianism is one of the many reasons why they are deeply hated and loathed by millions. Yet, since they have powerful corporate donors who buy millions and millions in television ads for the ba$tards, what can simple citizens hope to accomplish? Plus, as you correctly indicated earlier, it is highly likely that most elections are simply rigged to ensure that the "yes men/women" stay in power.

The corporate owners typically donate to BOTH sides. They only want their rubberstamp minions in Congress; they don't give a damn which side wins an election, as long as the elected candidate will do what they are told and when they told by their corporate masters.
