MacHome Journal Ranks Global Village No. 1 for External Macintosh
56K modem

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 8, 1997--MacHome Journal magazine has given the highest rating
of all 56K modems reviewed in the December 1997 issue to Global Village's TelePort 56 x2 fax/modem for
Macintosh. Compared to competitive products from Supra and U.S. Robotics, the Global Village TelePort 56 x2
modem was ''the fastest of the bunch.(and) downloaded faster than any of the others.''

Product speed and performance were not the only features considered by MacHome Journal. Value-added
software and ability to easily upgrade to future ITU standards was a key consideration. About these issues,
MacHome Journal said, ''Global Village's GlobalFax software is superb'' and, compared to the competition,
upgrading to the latest firmware ''is nowhere as easy as Global Village's approach.''

TelePort 56 x2 was given four and a half ''apples,'' beating the US Robotics Courier v.Everything and Diamond
Supra Express 56e Sp products. In addition, the Global Village 56K PC fax/modem/Ethernet card was rated four
''apples'' and the TelePort 56 K56flex fax/modem was awarded three and half ''apples.''

''Global Village continues to demonstrate its leadership in the Macintosh market, winning more awards for its
products and providing high-quality, easy-to-use products for Macintosh users,'' said Neil Selvin, president and
chief executive officer of Global Village Communication. ''We are very pleased to be recognized for providing
products that meet our customers' needs with the quality that they deserve.''

Global Village fax/modems are available from leading retail stores and catalogs. Estimated street prices are:
TelePort 56 (x2 or K56flex) external fax/modem, $169; TelePort 56 PLUS Mac OS 8, $189; Global Village 56K PC
fax/modem/Ethernet card, $379.
