All this because of some DOS attacks and a Radio WallStreet interview?

Doesn't anyone want to say "RAH RAH! I knew this was going to happen! Soon we'll own the world!" After a day like this nothing short of irrational exuberance seems right. Time for reality tomorrow.

So I wonder how high is too high? The market valuation is about $22B, the P/E and P/S ratios so high as to be meaningless. Key points in VRSN favor is that they're far and away the main player in a game where name and trust crucial. So investors who feel that security is important to e-biz must own some VRSN.

From StockSmart I get this:
The float is just under 100M shares.
165 Institutions hold 75.99% of the outstanding shares as of September 30,1999. Of these, 44 established new positions while 14 liquidated their holdings. Overall, Institutions increased their holdings by 23.05% for the period.

The float is small, especially given the obvious desire of institutions to hold VRSN. Despite the ridiculous valuation, I'll continue to stay long until I see clear signs of institutional dumping.
