Reading the description of reporting dates, this data is as of 6/15/98, and the volumes above have been adjusted for the split in late May, early June. Assuming that the float figure I'm using (15.7 mil. float, post split) is correct -- then half the float in AMZN was short in mid-June. Kinda explains why the short sellers were having trouble finding more stock to short (after some mutual funds hold AMZN long, and that effectively reduces the float, until they sell). |
