Maybe unrelated, but I swap drives frequently and run up to 6 drives at a time. When adding a newly cloned OS drive I disconnect either the power or sata cables to the other drives and add them in one by one.

The problem I've seen is that unless I do this the computer has difficulty verifying the DMI pool data.
