AITech International, the world leader in scan conversion and desktop video technology, today announced the joint bundling of its popular WaveWatcher(R) TV-PCI Full Motion Video Capture/TV Tuner Card with WaveTop, a data broadcast software developed by WavePhore, Inc. Once installed, AITech's WaveWatcher card provides the user's PC with the TV Tuner capability required to access WaveTop's free content delivery service. The combination of these products will allow users to receive this multimedia Internet content on their PCs via cable television or television broadcast signals. Users will also benefit from this by eliminating the monthly cost of an Internet Service Provider (ISP), and keeping their telephone line open.
In this arrangement, AITech will bundle WaveTop with all compatible WaveWatcher NTSC units. WaveWatcher TV-PCI is a 125-channel cable-ready TV Tuner that captures full-motion video direct from any TV, camcorder, or VCR with CD-quality sound. By plugging a cable or TV antenna directly into the PC, the user can watch TV shows and movies, full-screen or sizable, on the PC. Other PC applications may be open and operational.
WaveWatcher also has video capture for single frame or 30 frames per second (FPS). The Plug & Play unit is compatible with all major PCs. WaveTop is the first free, modemless content delivery service for the home PC market. Its desktop interface enables advertising-supported, data-broadcast service. WaveTop uses vertical blanking interval (VBI) technology to embed data streams from the Internet and other sources into the unused portions of the PBS broadcast television signal.
WaveTop transparently receives and decodes content automatically. It requires no Internet connection or phone line, and will not interrupt users. To receive the VBI transmission, the PC must be equipped with a TV tuner, which is provided in this bundle with AITech's WaveWatcher.
