Ned, we already know that Bulletin Board companies that are non reporting will probably be moved to the pink sheets. I'm sure that when that time comes, GRNO will be fully reporting because it already has been reporting its financials, but a number of other little stocks will find it more difficult to trade because they won't be exposed to the NASDAQ market makers. The accounting procedures to be a reporting company are expensive as are lawyers who are competent in SEC regulations.

I have no idea what the merged configuration of the new system will be or even if it will come about. The boards haven't voted on whether the union should happen and I haven't seen a description of the new system, only conjecture. For example, the two different systems of the AMEX and NASDAQ could remain completely separate and be simply parts of a holding company. On the other hand, it could turn out to be a truly creative configuration that would provide the specialist system of the NYSE along with some sort of computerized connection for individual investors that could reduce the spread. That could be a big advantage for smaller companies.

Speaking of stock exchanges, Steve Case is joining the NYSE board.
