There is a lot of material readily available on the Internet covering the entire spectrum of positions.

But it all comes down to the limitations of proxies. And the truth is you cannot model to within 1C using any of the techniques they're trying to use. Perhaps other proxies will be discovered, but I doubt it. The reality is that getting meaningful coverage of the planet in any consistent proxies is difficult, perhaps impossible, to achieve. You really cannot create any continuity between one proxy kind and another.
