As I said, Ahnie is backpedaling away from Buffer as fast as he can. And all the other candidates are taking note.

You really are in denial. And you are scared of losing your precious tax loophole.

Schwarzenegger, with Buffett and Shultz at his side, later addressed a crush of several hundred reporters in his longest press conference to date,

All I heard is that education will not be on the chopping block -- well, 'Hello.' " Torres said. "

On the issue of taxes, the actor became especially animated. "I'm very much a believer that people in this state have not been overtaxed," he said.

"the day I'm sworn in" as governor, to convene an economic study group to recommend ways to restructure the state's mounting debt and to order an immediate 60-day audit of state finances by "an independent company" to track and attack state waste.

But pressed about whether he would never raise taxes, Schwarzenegger -- noting that terrorism, calamity and other unknowns could affect the state's finances -- said, "We can't ever say never." He said he is "in principle" against further taxation, but added, "From the time they get up in the morning, they're taxed. This goes on all day long . . . tax, tax, tax. This is crazy."

Guess what that "independent commission" is going to discover? That there is rampant age discrimination in the form of property taxes and the system needs restructuring so the new buyers get a tax cut and the long time homeowners get an increase.
