sounds like a tag line for a show on Fox Saturday Kids Network. I watched the news here on the local Tampa ABC affiliate last night. Tampa is a real wannabe on the bad news front; at least for yesterday.... The 30 minute broadcast (this is a pretty big metro area, remember) had some stuff that they obviously used 'cause they needed some filler.

(God forbid that they should take ANY TIME AT ALL for anything remotely resembling good news....)

First a story about potholes. no lie. with the remote lady reporter standing next to a pothole with a STICK and poking it in the pothole to show us viewers the DEPTH OF THE DANGEROUS POTHOLE. Get the concept of getting paid for this. I was choking on my soda.

Next: 2 dogs that were inside a stolen car are found and returned to Gomer, their Master. INTERVIEW with Gomer about the dogs, and how they are like a family to him. Then, a lousy PHOTO of the STOLEN JUNKER CAR and the ARTIST'S RENDERING of the LICENSE PLATE. (this is obviously the only car that has been stolen in the greater metro area in at least 1 minute.

All this took the better part of 10 minutes in a 30 minute newscast...and I keep thinking about the people that talk seriously about it, like who is gonna drive over to the pothole and what kinda film and how's the lighting and how's the makeup.

Could be worse. Could be L.A.
