You want to be reasonable I'm sure. The problem with gun regulations they work only on people who aren't any danger to society. People that are the problem(!) like the inner city gangs, crazed haters of Christians, blacks, whites (Umpqua, Charleston, etc), spontaneous jihadists (like in Australia, Chattanooga, ....) are motivated to arm themselves regardless of what the law says. Disarming society just makes us more vulnerable to them.
