Excellent Paul - I was just thinking about this last night and was wondering who would be "THE DREAM TEAM" BOD for Novell. I have been putting my list together ...always subject to changes <gr>.
My top picks so far include:

(1) CEO Ray LANE - BOD Chairman
(2) BOD Ellen Hancock (former Apple Computer Inc. executive VP)
<Note Novell may want to hire Ellen at VP of technology>
(3) BOD Ms. Denise Gibson
(4) BOD K.T. Derr CEO of Chevron Co. (or some other representation by a large customer)

(5) BOD Representation by American Express Warren Buffet if possible. Someone in this industry can provide a good perspective on electronic commerce and Warren knows how to grow a business.

(5) BOD Donald Trump - "The art of the Deal"; Just in case we need to position our chips for a friendly merger. I would want Donald on my side.

(6) BOD representation by a Wall Street "Technology" analyst or Bank like First Boston, H&Q, and others.

(7) BOD the CEO of Corel, Dr. Michael C.J. Cowpland. Novell really needs to integrate Corel's products more and a position on the Board might help the group get a better perspective as to what Corel is doing regarding JAVA applets and back-office like application programs which run from the server.

Just a few ideas...
