From post 8950 (I cap'd for long-distance networks):
<Many Internet and telecom gurus scoff at the notion of an actual glut of available fiber-optic bandwidth. But the investors' response underscores a pressing dilemma for companies such as Mr. Maffei's: Bandwidth -- the capacity of communications lines to carry data and phone calls -- is quickly becoming a commodity FOR LONG-DISTANCE NETWORKS>

If true (and I am not sure it is true) sound like the attention of LD carriers and others needs to shift to the metro, last mile and first mile (BLEC's). Could metro and last mile/first mile be the areas of emphasis as we go forward?? Comments welcome.
