I disconnected an archive drive from the computer I installed Ubuntu on and the computer wouldn't boot.

This was the boot sequence.

I re-connected the archive drive and the computer booted, but the drive wasn't an operating system drive for linux or windows.

Fortunately, Ubuntu was installed on a drive I cloned for the test installation, but considering, I switch archive drives frequently, there's no way this could work for me.
