Heaven forbid anyone should be asked to tolerate such atrocious behavior! I think it probably depends a lot on where you live. You probably would not say "Merry Christmas" to a person you knew was a Jew, or a Muslim, or a Sikh or a Buddhist. At least I assume you would not. Where I live, it's quite likely that strangers I am talking to are Muslim or Buddhist. And I know for a fact that our receptionist is Wiccan, as is one of our best friends.
