The following is from the Wireless royalty forecast....

This means 3G MUST get underway pronto, and apparantly Alcatel, Motorola, Ericsson and Siemens en Europe are all working with VxWorks for 3G products. Also, Nokia is a WIND customer, and probably is also working with WIND similarly.

I know that both Nokia and Ericsson are working with TI to develop their 3G handsets. Specifically, TI is creating the OMAP architecture to serve their customers.

TI's OMAP will feature a TMS320C55x DSP and ARM9 hybrid in the baseband chip, and an identical 'C55x/ARM9 engine to handle computing applications. The company plans to eventually integrate all four computing elements on a single chip, and is also working on an ARM10 implementation.

Could someone describe to me how VxWorks would fit into the above scenario? I'm trying to get a better idea of the situations (especially in wireless) where VxWorks comes into play....
